Hack #2: How to get the Task/WBS to work in D365 Project Operations?

September 19, 2022December 28, 2022 / dpower365

If you cannot see the Task/WBS tab, here are some of the things that I do that always seem to help fix this issue quickly.

Normally after trying these four things I am able to get it to work:

Licensing: (System Admins can normally see and open Project Operations but if they don’t have a license, the tab will tell them that they NEED one). You will get this message:

Browser cookies: Yes, you must activate these when first signing in and trying to read the Task tab.

The link at the end gives you more details.

Signing in to project.microsoft.com: Yes, this tends to help with caching as sometimes you need to brute force your way so the Project for the Web service caches your access in. This should only be needed once!

Clear your browser’s cache and sign back in from scratch: If all three above did not help and you are getting this odd image (as below), this next step has worked for me everytime.

Clear your browser’s cache, like everything, zero, nada, and sign back in again. I noticed that because I had signed in previously with MULTIPLE accounts (like in two different services: My personal email and Power Apps) my browser got confused and it blocked the tab as below:

Update: If you are logged in with more than one account in your browser (with the same browser profile), you will keep having this issue as the image below illustrates, regardless of what you do. Make sure you use one sign-in to avoid it.

Error: login.microsoftonline.com refused to connect

Not working still, go down this list that Microsoft prepared here: MS Docs steps

Now, I am only considering two browsers here that I normally either use or test these with, and they are: Microsoft Edge and Chrome.

It does help, if you work with many accesses across different customer’s environments to setup and use ‘profiles’ inside your browser. They are a life saver. Check them out here: Edge multiple profiles

Hope this helps!
